Importing Existing Project in Android Studio

Many a times you might need to use a previously created project or include libraries, for that purpose we have to  import project into Android Studio . Importing Existing Project In Android Studio Tutorial is a step-wise illustration, which you will require whenever you download source code from any of the post of NestedIFIts very simple procedure, as follows:


Important Note :

Import Settings from Android Studio needs to be used only when we want to import project made in other IDE like Eclipse. If you know that the project is already made using Android Studio, then use Open settings from File menu.


To import an Existing or newly Downloaded project, Extract the zip, copy it into Directory – ‘AndroidStudioProjects’ . Default Location of AndroidStudioProjects is :

For Windows – C:\Users\310211264\AndroidStudioProjects\

For MAC – /Users/YOUR-USERNAME/AndroidStudioProjects/

Now from Android Studio click open Existing Android Studio Project and select the path to extracted file we just copied in AndroidStudioProjects directory. And we are done.

  •  If Sync SDK path prompt comes just click OK and you are ready to work.
  •  If still you get error check for AndroidStudioProjects/LinearLayout/app/build.gradle , it will contain different SDK Version. Change it to SDK Version which you have (If you don’t know the version , create a new project and from that project gradle file you will get version. ) Or second option from SDK Manager download all SDK Android Images corresponding to all OS Versions.
