Android Configuring Environment Tools for Development

To start Android Development, download and install the below 2 tools depending on 32 or 64 – bit Operating Systems in your host machine:

Tool Name Link to Download
SDK + ADT Package Android Studio

After downloading the above softwares we should start its Setup :

  • Simply install the setup¬†which you have downloaded & keep default installation location.

You might need this SDK path in future to use ADB (Android Debug Bridge) or configure some things. Default location to Android SDK directory is as follows:

For Windows –¬†C:\Users\YOUR-USERNAME\AppData\Local\Android\sdk

For Mac – /Users/YOUR-USERNAME/Library/Android/sdk/

Now head on to next article where you will learn to make your virtual device to test your apps. You should proceed to Creating Android Virtual Device (AVD)

For optimal use Remember that both of the set-ups must be of same bit i.e. either both of 32 – bit or both of 64 – bit depending upon your system. As a matter of fact : you can use 32 bit tools on a 64-bit machine but its reverse is not possible (i.e. you cannot use 64-bit tools on 32-bit system), but this is not recommended.
